At around 8.30 last night, 5 people who were staying on the top floor of a hotel in Delduwa area of Ambalangoda were shot by an unknown gunman and fled.
One person was killed on the spot while another two had been admitted to the Ambalangoda Hospital with gunshot injuries. However, one of them who was in critical condition has succumbed to injuries, according to hospital sources.
The deceased have been identified as residents of Lenamulla and Kuligoda areas.
In the preliminary investigations conducted by the police, information has been revealed that the shooting was carried out yesterday as a result of an earlier murder in the Ambalangoda area. Ambalangoda Police is conducting further investigations in this regard.
