From Village to Viral: Dilshan Maduranga's Incredible Journey

Dilshan Maduranga grew up in a small village in Kurunegala with no formal music training. Today his song 'Pini Bindu' has been downloaded 68,000 times on Desawana Music.

Dilshan Maduranga's story is one of pure determination. Growing up in a rural village in Kurunegala district, he had no access to music schools or professional recording studios. He learned to sing by listening to the radio and practiced guitar on a second-hand instrument borrowed from a neighbour.

At 22, he moved to Colombo with just LKR 15,000 in his pocket and a dream. For two years he worked as a delivery rider while recording music at a small home studio on weekends.

His breakthrough came when he uploaded 'Pini Bindu' to Desawana Music in 2025. Within a week it had 10,000 downloads. Within a month, 68,000. Today he has a record deal and a growing fanbase across Sri Lanka.

'Desawana Music changed my life,' Dilshan says. 'It gave me a platform when nobody else would. Now I just want to give that same hope to other young artists from small towns like me.'
