The Special Task Force has arrested a person with prohibited herbicides near the Maithripura water pumping station in the Medavachchiya Police domain.
He found 500 packets containing 100 grams of banned herbicide Anu 71 (Ammonium Salt of Glyphosate 71%sg) in his possession.
The special task force says that the weed killers were illegally imported into Sri Lanka without paying duty.
