It is reported that if an order for a stock of coal is not submitted within today, there will be a power cut for 08 or 10 hours aday from October 28.
This is due to the non-operation of Phase 1 of the old Lakshapana plant and the non-availability of fuel for power generation at the West Coast plant.
This means that the entire power system will lose 820 megawatts and if there is no coal, 3 power plants will have to be shut down.
Because of this, the Public Utilities Commission of Sri Lanka has given permission to the Electricity Board to carry out a power cut
of 2 hours and 20 minutes a day until the 25th.
