Telephone companies have decided to increase telephone service charges and pay TV service charges effective from today under the approval of the Telecommunication Regulatory Commission with the amendment of VAT.
Here, the telephone companies have informed that all mobile, landline and broadband charges and other pre-paid and post-paid charges will be increased by 20% and pay-TV service charges by 25%.
The revised budget increased the VAT from 12% to 15%. The All Ceylon Communication Owners' Association says that due to the price increase, the provision of services to customers is facing a severe crisis.
